Seasons at Laurentides & Lanaudière

What to expect across the golf season.

Spring

Golf in the Laurentides and Lanaudière typically gets underway in late April or early May, though courses at higher elevations — particularly those near Lac-Nominingue and the Grenville-sur-la-Rouge resort properties — may hold snow into the first weeks of May. Expect soft fairways, the occasional frost delay in the morning, and temperatures ranging from single digits at dawn to the mid-teens by afternoon. Conditions improve steadily through May, and by early June the parkland courses around Lachute, Lorraine, and Mirabel are generally in good shape. Spring is a reasonable time to visit for golfers who don't mind variable conditions and prefer lighter course traffic. The Laurentians in May are visually striking, with hardwood forests pushing out new foliage and lakes still cold and clear. Room rates at resort properties tend to be lower before the summer family crowd arrives. Golfers should pack layers, waterproof footwear, and accept that cart-path-only restrictions may be in place on softer layouts after heavy rain. Tee times are easy to come by mid-week.

Summer

June through August represents peak season across the trail. Temperatures settle into the low-to-mid twenties Celsius most days, with humidity building in July, particularly at lower-elevation parkland courses near Mirabel and Hudson. The resort properties at Carling Lake and Lac-Nominingue draw cottage-country visitors, so weekend tee times book quickly — advance reservations are advisable. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August, and most courses will suspend play for lightning; morning rounds tend to avoid the worst of it. Course conditions are typically at their best in June before summer heat stresses turf. The surrounding region offers strong off-course appeal: the lakes support swimming, kayaking, and fishing, and Mont-Tremblant — a short drive from several courses — provides dining, festivals, and accommodation options across price points. Daylight extends well past 8 p.m. in June and July, making twilight rounds practical and popular.

Fall

September and early October deliver some of the most reliable golf weather in the Quebec calendar. Temperatures cool into the mid-teens, humidity drops, fairways firm up, and the hardwood forests of the Laurentians begin their colour change — typically peaking in the first two weeks of October. Courses around Piedmont, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, and Lac-Nominingue sit amid dense mixed forest that turns amber, orange, and red during this period, making the visual backdrop as much a draw as the golf itself. Foliage tourism picks up sharply in late September, which affects highway traffic on the 15 and 117 corridors on weekends; mid-week travel is considerably smoother. Most courses remain open until mid-to-late October, though morning frost becomes a regular occurrence after early October and some layouts may delay first tee times accordingly. Resort rates often soften after Thanksgiving weekend. Snow can arrive in the Laurentides by late October, effectively closing the season at higher-elevation properties first.
