The world's oldest Acadian festival — two weeks of music, parades & culture on St. Mary's Bay.
Running since 1955, the Festival acadien de Clare is the oldest Acadian festival in the world and a major cultural event in Eastern Canada, drawing thousands of visitors to Saint Mary's Bay each summer for a packed programme of street parades, lumberjack competitions, dinner theatres, a bazaar, culinary events, and live Acadian, Cajun, and bluegrass concerts. The festival spans roughly late July through early August and culminates on National Acadian Day (August 15) with the famous Tintamarre — a noisy, joyful community procession ending in a concert at Université Sainte-Anne. It takes place across six villages along a 20-kilometre stretch of Highway 1, very close to the Clare Golf & Country Club.
